There are a number of green and open spaces within the parish of Risinghurst, Sandhills and Wood Farm. The following are owned and maintained by the Parish Council:
- Risinghurst Playing Field
- Woodland
- Olive Jacks Field and Children’s Play area
- Downside Dip Play Area
- Richards Way Ball Court
- Allotments
- Small Woodland
The triangular play area accessed from Ridgeway Road is owned and maintained by Oxford City Council. All other small areas of grassland are contained in the verges: either triangular shaped located at the junctions of roads or the small grass areas outside properties on both Risinghurst and Sandhills have long time been adopted by Highways and are maintained by Oxford City Council (ODS – Oxford Direct Services) on behalf of Oxfordshire County Council.
On Sandhills, the Children’s Play Area on Terrett Avenue opposite the school is owned and maintained by Oxford City Council.
The other significant green space is located at Stansfeld Park, accessed from Quarry Road, although this space is not generally open to the public.
The allotments are located in Richards Way, Risinghurst and are leased and managed by Risinghurst Allotment Association. There is a waiting list for plots which are available to residents of the parish.

Tree Survey – June 2023
The Parish Council recently commissioned an updated Tree Survey on the trees that surround the Playing Field and within the woodland, those located along the footpath to the London Road, those that surround Olive Jacks Playing field and the trees situated along the boundary of the allotments and in the small woodland beyond the allotments.
The survey highlighted a small number of trees, mainly ash, that need some remedial action, felling or the removal of some limbs that might pose a risk. This work will be carried out over the autumn and winter months.

The Peter Jacques Memorial Hedgerow
The new hedgerow planted in February 2023, funded by a grant from the Tree Council, has taken really well despite the heavy clay ground.
A commemorative sign has now been installed (28-Sep-23) following the discovery of a suitable piece of stone close to the drainage ditch.
C S Lewis Nature Reserve
Would you like to get out in the fresh air, be with others and help nature? If so, then join other volunteers for conservation work at CS Lewis Reserve in Risinghurst.No experience is necessary and tools can be provided and full support.
Volunteers cut back bramble, lay paths, plant hedges etc. There is always something for everyone to get involved with.
